EX VULCAN TALKS ABOUT PROFESSIONAL CAREER !

23/01/2017

Image of EX VULCAN TALKS ABOUT PROFESSIONAL CAREER ! What's your first memory of football?

James: It was my dad taking me to Old Trafford to watch my first Utd game, and buying me the full kit!

Early influences in football?

Joe Makin was my first coach at Reddish Vulcans, he encouraged me into football at 4 and had me playing with the year above. Joe is working for Man City now but still runs Reddish Vulcans, he is a good friend and I have a lot to thank him for!

How did your journey into professional football start?

James: I signed for Manchester City at 9. I was playing in youth games with Micah Richards who was my age, and trained with some of the older lads a couple of times. I remember Steven Ireland, Lee Croft, Willo Flood, Ishmael Miller. They all went on to play first team. I then signed for Maccelsfield Town in 2006, making my debut for Paul Ince.

Who is the best player you have played with?

James: Michael Johnson. I played with him for Charlton Juniors, managed by his dad. Even from a young lad I knew he would go on to play at the highest level, he had great technique, with great passing range and was always looking to improve his game.

Who is the best player you have played against?

James: Andriy Shevchenko when I played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup. His movement was something else and he was the most expensive player in the world at the
time.

James Jennings has set up a company to assist footballers / sports people at the later stages of their careers.
