A fantastic win for the lads against tough opposition in Chadderton Park. A very close game was played out in glorious sunshine, We fell behind early on as we struggled to get going, and had to dig in to stay in the game, with Jamie and Zak trying to carve something out on the break. Eventually a great through ball from Prince found Zak in behind and he finished calmly to leave us a little fortunate to be level at half time. Second half on came top scorer Freddie, left on the bench as carrying a bit of an injury so saved him for a run at the tiring defenders. On a big pitch on a hot day as the half wore on he started to run them ragged, eventually breaking from the half way line, and rounding the keeper (twice) before putting us a ahead. Chaddy Park then rallied and came back well, equalising with about 15 left. I was thinking about penalties but the lads went again, won a corner, and up from the back came Aaron, burying a header for 3-2. We barely had time to kick off before we won a free kick at least 25 yards out. With no one in the box with everyone sitting back to protect the lead Jamie tried his luck from distance, rocketing in a swerving free kick for 4-2. And with the game seemingly done, Freddie pounced on a weak throw in from a downhearted defence, to steal the ball, round the keeper and make the game safe, with a scoreline that bore no relation to a nail-bitingly close game. The Ref gave Freddie MotM for his second half onslaught.
